(Kuala Lumpur) The Catholic Church is growing in the Malaysian federation in spite of a strong Islamic Drucks. An example of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinablu, the capital of the State of Sabah. The Catholics make up about ten percent of the population. Sabah is one of the 13 states of the Malaysian Federation. It is located in the north of the island of Borneo.

Many parishes have increased the number of Sunday services to the large crowds the faithful to fulfill. New churches were built.

Islam is growing rapidly, however. Two reasons are given. The Muslims have more children and members of the Catholic people of Kazadan convert for political and social motives to Islam.

In Malaysia, Islam is the state religion, freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution. However, take Islamic attacks against Christians. The Islamic Society exerts strong social pressure on non-Muslims, encouraging them to push for conversion to Islam. Christians and other non-Muslims by Muslims are considered "inferior".

Of the 23 million people, Malaysia are 60 percent Muslims, 9.1 percent are Christians, mostly Catholics. Ethnic Malays are automatically born as Muslims. A change of religion for them is legally possible but practically difficult to implement. The majority of Catholics living on the island of Borneo.
