27th anniversary January: When you think of the living Jews?
What we Jews in our calendar for decades with the Yom Hashoah loved, Germany for the first 15 years: a day of remembrance for the victims of National Socialism. Federal President Roman Herzog has called that day to life - a symbolic day of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army.
The idea of Roman Herzog was good - and, with all malice, that this day is so (to) came late, it is still welcome.
But something went wrong.
In the German Bundestag is at a memorial service, mostly in Beisam of survivors who thought the victims. In many cities and towns held smaller events, often organized by churches.
is
Despite all are very much a fact that taking the majority of the citizens of that day, no notice.
Maybe we could have chosen to emphasize Israel and have let the sirens wail throughout the country for a few minutes - that would have been a signal.
But I simply did probably the courage.
But what does this day for us Jews?
If we are honest enough.
Listening to the speeches,
find a lot of words about the Jews killed. We hear: "Never again Auschwitz", we hear "fight against anti-Semitism and right-wing" - but what we actually hear about us?
nothing.
Originally tomorrow should the Turkish film "Valley of the Wolves, Palestine" to start in German cinemas.
exactly happened to the memorial - the cinema would have been full of young people, mostly of Turkish or Arab immigrant who would be horny at the open anti-Semitic incitement and movie scenes.
That was even some politicians too much and many asked to place the film's release at least another day.
This may remember the non-Jews alone?
Perhaps it would have been good this year,
when the German Bundestag, in commemorating this film would be shown - Premiere de luxe as it were.
Perhaps it would have been good if all politicians and dignitaries to commemorate the so-dutiful,
Kipa had a set on his head and would have run this through German cities.
Perhaps it would have been good if they are Jewish kindergartens and Jewish schools were visited - and one would have pointed this out that their children probably do not need to be protected by armed policemen.
Perhaps it would have been good if they had dealt with the open hatred of Israel in their own ranks - and you would have pointed out that Israel today, "the Jew among nations" is.
Many of us speak Jews in Germany for some time assumed that "we arrived in the midst of society" are. Jewish life is an integral part of German society - blablabla.
Why do we need police to protect our children?
Why do we need police to protect our prayer in the Syngogen? Why do we need
then police to protect our seniors in retirement homes?
Why do we need police to protect our community leaders? Why do we need
then regular cleaning companies who remove the swastikas from our cemeteries and our community centers?
Why do we need all this in the mainstream of society? Why do we
this game anyway?
We Jews really need this symbolic day not, which commemorates the victims of the Shoah - every day we remember them.
What we need is Jewish, the daily non-Jewish solidarity of the majority society.
What we need Jews who one who calls on the commemorative event in the crowd:
We need your help today and your Unterstützunng -
but right now we have the impression that we are only used to ensure that the majority of society can think in peace. without taking action. And without thinking of the living Jews.
